Clinical Forest Therapy: Certified Clinical Partners

The organizations presented here participate in the Clinical Partner Program of the IM-WALD-SEIN® Institute and its affiliated IM-WALD-SEIN® Academy.

These collaborations are among the first projects in Germany and Europe to systematically integrate Clinical Forest Therapy into clinical care as a structured forest- and nature-based therapeutic approach. The projects combine forest- and nature-based interventions with the established medical and therapeutic concepts of the participating institutions.

The individual projects are currently at different stages of development, ranging from concept design and pilot implementation to structured integration into routine clinical practice. The objective is to develop sustainable models that can be applied across a variety of medical indications over the long term.

A structured final audit and certification process conducted by the IM-WALD-SEIN® Institute, in cooperation with the International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine (INFOM), ensures that each Clinical Forest Therapy program is professionally developed, quality-assured and sustainably implemented.

Brief Definition: Clinical Forest Therapy

Clinical Forest Therapy is a nature-based health-promoting, rehabilitative and therapeutic approach that uses the forest as a purposeful therapeutic environment. It combines structured experiences in nature with selected sensory awareness, breathing, movement and self-regulation interventions and is integrated into existing prevention, treatment and rehabilitation concepts in an indication-specific, safe and quality-assured manner.

Clinical Forest Therapy practitioners plan, guide and supervise these interventions. They are responsible for adapting the intervention to the patient's indication, resilience and current condition, while ensuring compliance with therapeutic, organizational and safety-related requirements. Clinical Forest Therapy may be delivered in individual, group or self-guided formats within a therapeutic framework.

The Clinical Forest Therapy Trail is the structural and spatial expression of Clinical Forest Therapy. It consists of a clearly defined sequence of therapeutic stations and is designed according to functional, topographical and safety-related criteria. This enables a standardized yet flexible application within routine clinical practice.

As part of the IM-WALD-SEIN® Clinical Partner Program, these concepts are developed jointly with the participating institutions, tested in practice and implemented step by step to meet the quality standards of the IWSI/INFOM framework.
